BROWN NUT BREAD RECIPE

This recipe will teach you how to make Brown Nut Bread. It is a quick and easy recipe to make. Brown Nut Bread is a wonderful sweet bread with nuts and raisins in it to enjoy with a cup of coffee. The flavours of molasses, honey, and orange peel in the bread recipe makes the taste fantastic.

Brown Nut Bread Ingredients

1 tsp salt
2 eggs beaten
1/3 cup honey
3/4 cup raisins
2 cups sour milk
1/2 cup molasses
2 tsp baking soda
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp finely shredded orange peel

Brown Nut Bread Method

The first thing to do is to make the sour milk by placeing 2 tablespoons lemon juice in a 2 cup glass measure and stir in enough whole milk to make 2 cups liquid. Let stand 5 minutes. In a large mixing bowl stir together whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking soda and salt and then set aside. In another mixing bowl combine eggs, sour milk, molasses, honey and orange and add to dry ingredients stirring till well combined. Fold in chopped walnuts and raisins. Turn batter into two greased 8 x 4 x 2 inch loaf pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 55 minutes or till a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cover the Brown Nut Bread with foil the last 15 to 20 minutes. Cool bread 10 minutes in pans. Remove from pans and let cool thoroughly on wire racks.
