BEEF RAGOUT RECIPE

Beef Ragout Recipe, Beef Ragout, Beef Recipes

This recipe will teach you how to make Beef Ragout. It is a quick and easy recipe to make. Beef Ragout is a wonderful dinner to have on a cold winters night as it warms you right through. I always steam potatoes in there jackets and serve with the Beef Ragout as my husband always likes his potatoes with his dinner at night.

Beef Ragout Ingredients

1 dsp oil
2 onions
2 carrots
1 bayleaf
1 cup stock
2 tomatoes
1 clove garlic
1 Tbs plain flour
salt and pepper
1/2 cup red wine
pinch mixed herbs
1 1/2 lb stewing steak

Beef Ragout Method

Get the meat ready first by triming the steak and cut into 3/4 inch cubes then place it in a bowl with 1 sliced onion, sliced carrots and the bayleaf. Add the wine and cover and allow to stand overnight. Next day drain off and reserve the liquid. Fry the meat on all sides in the heated oil until brown and then lift it out and add the remaining sliced onion and cook until brown. Stir in the flour, about 1 teaspoon salt and a dash of pepper and cook until the flour is browned. Add the stock and the liquid drained from the meat and stir until it boils and thickens. Return the meat to the saucepan and add peeled and sliced tomatoes, crushed garlic and the herbs. Cover the Beef Ragout and simmer gently for about 2 hours or until the steak is tender.

Enjoy your freshly made Beef Ragout!
