BEEF
PASTIES RECIPE
My family use to always go
to the bakers for their Beef Pasties but then I got diabettes
and started to make my own Beef Pasties and guess what my
family stopped going to the bakers. I now cook Beef Pasties
every second Friday night for dinner with mashed potatoes,
peas and gravy. I have got into the habit now of making a
few extra and freezing them. My children will come in and
just get one of the Beef Pasties out of the freezer and heat
it up in the microwave for a snack.
Beef Pasties
Ingredients
Crust:
1 egg
water
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup flour
2 tsp vegetable shortening
FILLING:
1 tsp salt
2 Tbs water
3/4 cup diced celery
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 cup diced raw potato
3/4 cup diced raw carrot
3/4 lb coarsely ground raw beef
Beef Pasties
Method
Put flour and salt in mixing
bowl and then cut in the shortening. Beat egg in a measuring
cup and then add water to make 1/2 cup then add to flour and
mix until well moistened. Divide dough into 6 balls. On lightly
floured board and roll balls into circles between waxed paper
and then set aside. Now do the filling by combining the salt,
water, celery, pepper, potato, carrot and beef and make sure
it is well mixed then put a spoonful of mixture onto the dough
and fold the dough over and press the edges down with your
finger. Bake the Beef Pasties at 350 degrees for about 15
minutes or until dough has become golden brown.
