LENTIL BARLEY SOUP RECIPE

This recipe
will teach you how to make Lentil Barley Soup. It is a quick
and easy recipe to make.
I did not know what to do with lentils at first but I knew
my mother always had them in her pantry. One day I asked my
mother what she made with them and thats when she taught me
to make Lentil Barley Soup she told me as long as I have lentils
and barley in my pantry I can always make a very nourishing
meal. I made sure my children then knew what to make with
lentils and barley and my three daughters all cook the Lentil
Barley Soup.
Lentil
Barley Soup Ingredients
2 Tbs olive oil
1 cup dried lentils
1 Tbs brown sugar
1 tsp ground cumin
1 Tbs garlic minced
1/2 cup dried barley
2 cups carrots diced
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups onions chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup parsley chopped
28 oz can plum tomatoes chopped with their juices

Barley Soup Method
Heat oil in large heavy pot
over medium high heat. Add onions and carrots then cook stirring
occasionally for 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes
stirring then add cumin and cook 1 minute longer. Add the
lentils, chicken broth, tomatoes and brown sugar. Bring mixture
to a boil and reduce the heat slightly and cook 5 minutes
partially covered. Add the barley then cover partially and
cook 45 minutes stirring occasionally. Stir in the parsley
and season the Lentil Barley Soup to taste with salt and pepper.

CHOWDER SOUP RECIPE
This
recipe will teach you how to make Lentil Chowder Soup. It
is a quick and easy recipe to make.
This is
one very tasty soup to make as it is full of good nourishing
ingredients. The wonderful
combination of onion, oil, water, celery, potato, tomatoes,
savoury brown lentils, garlic salt, sweet basil, marmite all
go into making this great Lentil Chowder Soup. I
really enjoy this soup with hot crusty herbed bread in front
of the fireplace in winter as it is so cosy and the Lentil
Chowder Soup seems to warm you right through.
Lentil Chowder Soup Ingredients
1 tsp oil
1 Tbs water
3 cups water
1/2 tsp galic salt
1/2 tsp sweet basil
1
large onion chopped
2 tsp sanitarium marmite
1 1/3 cups chopped celery
chopped parsley to garnish
1 large potato finely chopped
425g can peeled tomatoes diced
430g can sanitarium savoury brown lentils
Lentil
Chowder Soup Method
Saute onion
in oil adding 1 tablespoon water when necessary until soft.
Add celery and potato and stir fry for 3 minutes. Add remaining
ingredients except parsley and simmer until cooked. Serve
the Lentil Chowder Soup hot with chopped parsley sprinkled
on top.
